Live location sharing for your family

Live location sharing lets a guardian see where a family member is on a map. With Hifazat, the person's phone shares its location while the Hifazat page is open. Adults and elders must accept first, and anyone can pause sharing. Location history is deleted after 30 days.

How does Hifazat live location work?

Create a private Person invitation from your family space. Open it on the person’s phone. After agreement and browser permission, the phone shares while the page stays open.

Does the person have to agree?

Adults and elders must always agree on their own phone. For a child under your care, you authorize setup and the child sees a visible sharing notice.

Can I see where someone was earlier?

The private map shows the last 24 hours. Location history is kept for 30 days, with earlier deletion available in your family space.

Why can location stop sometimes?

A phone that is off, a weak signal, battery saver or browser background limits can stop updates. A stale location is not a current location.

How do I stop sharing?

Tap Pause or Stop sharing on the Person page. Your guardian can also revoke the sharing invitation.

Questions families ask

No. Sharing requires an adult or elder to tap “I agree” on their own phone and allow browser location access before sharing starts. If either step is missing, location sharing should not begin. The person can pause or stop sharing afterward from the Person page; device and browser limits can still interrupt updates.

Yes. The Person page provides Pause and Stop sharing controls, and the guardian can revoke the sharing invitation. Pausing or stopping affects future updates, but exact handling of already stored history is not specified in this answer. Check the family space after changing sharing status, and do not treat an old map position as current.

Not reliably. The location page needs to remain open for best results, and a phone that is off, offline, or restricted by its browser may stop sending updates. A last known position can therefore be outdated. Check its time before acting on it, and contact the person directly when current location matters.

The update schedule is a location ping every 60 seconds while moving and every 5 minutes while still. Actual delivery depends on browser behavior, device settings and signal availability, so these intervals are not guaranteed. A delayed ping means the map may not represent the person’s present location; check the displayed time before relying on it.

Access is limited to the family owner and accepted linked guardians for that person’s private location history. This describes the app’s intended family access, not a guarantee about every technical or administrative access path. Keep guardian links limited to people who should have access, and review linked guardians in the family space.
